Job Summary NCR Voyix is seeking a highly skilled, innovative, and results-driven Principal Engineer to lead the design, development, automation, and modernization of enterprise applications, data platforms, and AI-powered solutions. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise application architecture, Java-based technologies, database engineering, cloud-native platforms, intelligent automation, and Generative AI technologies. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering and database development expertise with modern AI and automation capabilities to drive digital transformation across the organization. As a hands-on engineer, this individual will be responsible for defining engineering standards, architecting scalable web and database solutions, automating application development and support processes, and leveraging AI-driven technologies to enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes. The Principal Engineer will champion best-in-class engineering practices, modern architectures, and intelligent automation strategies while partnering closely with business and technology leaders to deliver secure, resilient, high-performing, and business-aligned solutions. This role requires a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and the ability to influence enterprise-wide technology direction through technical leadership, and solution delivery excellence.

Job Responsibilities: Application Development

- Lead all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

- Lead the design of scalable, high-performance, cloud-ready applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and Angular.

- Design and implement RESTful APIs, Microservices, and event-driven architectures.

- Build modern user interfaces using Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related web technologies.

- Develop reusable frameworks and components that accelerate engineering productivity.

- Ensure applications meet reliability, availability, security, and performance requirements.

- Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, design patterns, and development governance.

- Review architecture, code quality, security, performance, and scalability of enterprise solutions.

- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Data & Database Engineering

- Design and optimize database solutions using Oracle databases and SQL/PLSQL.

- Develop complex procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and data integration processes.

- Support enterprise data models and data architecture initiatives.

- Collaborate with business and analytics teams to enable self-service reporting and intelligent data access.

- Optimize database performance through query tuning and performance analysis.

Production Support & Platform Ownership

- Provide technical oversight and support for mission-critical enterprise applications.

- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues.

- Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, reliability engineering, and proactive issue management.

- Support deployments, release management, and application lifecycle management.

- Drive platform stability, incident reduction, and operational automation initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership

- Partner with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Solution Architects, and Application development teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.

- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

- Influence strategic technology decisions and innovation initiatives.

- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-functional collaboration efforts.

AI & Intelligent Automation

- Design and build enterprise-grade AI solutions leveraging Generative AI technologies and Large Language Models (LLMs).

- Develop AI-powered applications using Azure OpenAI, Copilot, OpenAI, Claude,

- Develop conversational AI agents and intelligent assistants for business functions including Finance, IT Operations, Customer Support, and Enterprise Services.

- Define prompt engineering strategies and model optimization techniques to improve response accuracy and business outcomes.

- Lead the automation efforts across the MDM Organization

- Drive responsible AI implementation, governance, security, and compliance practices.

Required Technical Skills Enterprise Application Development

- Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture JDBC, Design Patterns, Multithreading, Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, Python Database Technologies

- Oracle 18c and above, SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Developer, Query Optimization Database Performance Tuning, Data Modeling DevOps & Platform Engineering

- Git, Maven / Gradle, Jenkins, CI/CD Pipelines, Linux / Unix, Application Monitoring and Troubleshooting AI & Automation

- Generative AI (GenAI), Azure OpenAI, OpenAI & Claude Models Prompt Engineering, Conversational AI, AI Agents & Agentic Frameworks Azure AI Foundry, Power Automate, Workflow Orchestration, Low-Code / No-Code Platforms

Experience & Qualifications

- 7-10 years of experience in enterprise application development and software engineering.

- Proven expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, SQL, and Oracle technologies.

- Hands-on experience designing and implementing Microservices and distributed systems.

- Experience architecting and delivering enterprise AI and automation solutions.

- Strong background in enterprise platforms, system integration, and production support.

- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, architecture reviews, and modernization initiatives.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
