Technical Lead II – Full Stack (OpenBlue)

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to drive development of OpenBlue, Johnson Controls' smart-building platform. This is a lead role with strong individual contribution. You'll own technical decisions, architecture and detailed design, and write production code alongside the team

Responsibilities

- Drive end-to-end development of features, from design through to production.

- Own technical decisions, architecture and detailed design for microservices, APIs and web applications.

- Run proofs of concept (PoCs) to evaluate new technologies, approaches and solutions.

- Contribute hands-on as an individual contributor, writing high-quality, well-tested code.

- Set and uphold engineering standards through code reviews and best practices.

- Make sure solutions are secure, scalable and performant.

- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery.

- Work with product, UX, QA and DevOps teams across locations to plan and deliver work. Requirements

- 8+ years of software development experience, including significant hands-on full stack work.

- Proven experience making architecture and design decisions and leading technical delivery.

- Strong in TypeScript , React and Node.js (NestJS) .

- Solid experience designing microservices, REST/gRPC APIs and PostgreSQL data models.

- Good understanding of web security, automated testing and CI/CD.

- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferably on Azure.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have

- Kafka, Redis or real-time data streaming.

- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms.

- Experience in IoT or building systems
