Job Title Senior Solution Architect - Platform Engineering Job Summary Job Description About the Role Our Technology team is at the heart of Telstra's transformation, building scalable, secure, and reusable platforms that power customer, product, sales, service, and operational experiences.  We are looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect - Platform Architecture to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale platform solutions that enable business growth, digital transformation, and technology modernization. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, delivery squads, and enterprise architects to create secure, resilient, and scalable solutions aligned to Telstra's strategic technology roadmap.  This role is ideal for someone passionate about cloud-native architecture, platform engineering, modern integration patterns, and enabling high-performing engineering teams.  What is the focus of the role?  As a Senior Solution Architect, you will lead the architecture and design of enterprise-scale platform solutions that enable rapid delivery of business capabilities across multiple customer and operational domains. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, delivery squads and enterprise architects to create scalable, secure, resilient and reusable platform solutions aligned to Telstra's strategic technology direction. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about platform engineering, cloud-native architecture, modern integration patterns, digital transformation and enabling engineering teams to build high-quality solutions at scale. Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture & Design

- Lead the end-to-end architecture of large and complex technology initiatives.

- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and reusable solutions.

- Develop architecture designs, integration models, and technology roadmaps.

- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and target-state platforms.

- Drive architecture governance, design reviews, and solution assurance. Platform Strategy & Modernisation

- Design and evolve enterprise platforms that enable reusable business capabilities.

- Identify opportunities to simplify systems and improve platform adoption.

- Support cloud migration, API enablement, event-driven architecture, and application modernization initiatives.

- Contribute to platform strategy, roadmaps, and investment planning. Cloud, Integration & Engineering Enablement

- Define cloud-native architecture patterns and engineering standards.

- Design API-first, microservices, and event-driven solutions.

- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation.

- Support proof-of-concepts, innovation initiatives, and technology assessments.

- Identify and mitigate architecture risks, technical debt, and operational challenges. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

- Partner with business leaders, product owners, engineers, and architects.

- Facilitate architecture workshops and solution design sessions.

- Present architecture recommendations and trade-offs to leadership and governance forums.

- Mentor architects and engineers and support architectural best practices.

About You Required Experience

- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise technology delivery, or solution architecture.

- 5+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solutions as a Solution Architect.

- Experience working across complex technology environments involving multiple systems and stakeholders.

- Strong understanding of architecture principles, distributed systems, and modern software engineering practices. Platform & Cloud Expertise

- Experience designing enterprise platforms and reusable business capabilities.

- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and platform engineering.

- Experience designing solutions on AWS or equivalent public cloud platforms.

- Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, or AKS.

- Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.

- Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, and operational excellence practices. Integration & Security

- Experience designing API-first and event-driven architectures.

- Strong understanding of REST APIs, messaging, microservices, and integration patterns. i.e. RESTful API design, solid understanding of API design principles, data modelling, object state & idempotency, and OpenAPI (Swagger) specifications

- Knowledge of security-by-design principles, identity management, and access controls. Working understanding of OIDC/SSO Authentication, session cookies, tokens & token lifecycling.

- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases. Working understanding of Databases and data model design, designing for resilience & redundancy of data Ways of Working

- Experience operating within Agile and product-based delivery environments.

- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

- Ability to navigate ambiguity and align multiple stakeholders.

- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience

- Telecommunications industry experience.

- Knowledge of TM Forum Open APIs and enterprise architecture frameworks.

- Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, or Adobe Experience Manager.

- Experience with Platform Engineering and Internal Developer Platforms.

- AWS certifications and/or TOGAF certification.

- Experience supporting AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.

- Understanding of large enterprise-level requirements, processes, and artefacts (e.g. logging, privacy, Cyber Security, Operational Readiness, etc.)
