Job Summary
As a Principal Product Manager for the Gateway team, you will drive the strategy and development of our Portkey AI Gateway, delivering competitive capabilities that enable teams to securely route, log, and scale AI applications. You will act as a strategic advisor, partnering with cross-functional teams, AI developers, and customers to translate complex market needs into highly differentiated infrastructure products. Leveraging deep technical insights into LLM architectures and API orchestration, you will own the full product lifecycle from feature prioritization to market evangelism.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the AI gateway domain by rapidly mastering our product architecture and infrastructure layers.
- Act as a strategic advisor for cross-functional teams building and deploying scalable AI workloads.
- Correlate technical design patterns and deep customer insights to build highly differentiated engineering products.
- Utilize data analytics to monitor operational metrics like latency, token usage, and throughput for roadmaps.
- Manage day-to-day product feature sets, strategy, and prioritization for the Portkey AI Gateway.
- Drive feature prioritization and trade-off decision-making to achieve desired outcomes within stipulated timelines.
- Support New Product Introduction processes, Beta test programs, and ramp-up initiatives for new features.
- Conduct market and customer analysis to develop requirements, business cases, and product positioning.
- Maintain a strong customer focus through active engagement with customers and AI application developers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to provide comprehensive support for owned feature sets.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of proven product management experience in AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, API management, or enterprise cybersecurity.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, APIs, LLM developer tools, and enterprise developer infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of using data to drive decisions.
- Proven ability to own the full product lifecycle and design innovative, customer-centric products.
- Experience working collaboratively in rapid-iteration agile environments with cross-functional, global teams.
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills for multi-disciplinary collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree, such as an MBA or equivalent, is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex technical domains quickly with minimal ramp-up time.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to comprehend complex product requirements.
- Strong people skills and team mentality with a demonstrable track record of success.
