About the job
At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it.
Assignment Summary The Scrum Master / Business Analyst III partners directly with the hiring manager to establish the agile operating model for assigned teams within Commercial Data & AI, working with program managers to embed consistent agile ways of working and automating operational and delivery metrics reporting. The assignment is accountable for sprint health and delivery predictability, while maintaining lightweight requirements and backlog continuity for assigned teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner directly with the hiring manager to define and establish the team's agile operating model — ceremonies, cadences, roles, and ways of working — for assigned teams within Commercial Data & AI.
- Work with program managers across Commercial Data & AI to establish and embed consistent agile ways of working, aligning practices and standards across teams.
- Automate operational and delivery metrics reporting — velocity, capacity, throughput, predictability, risks, and dependencies — turning raw delivery data into a reliable, self-updating leadership narrative.
- Automate recurring coordination activities such as status reporting, dashboard updates, ceremony preparation, dependency tracking, and routine follow-ups using approved AI and automation tools.
- Own Agile delivery governance for assigned teams, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and cross-functional ceremonies, with accountability for team health and delivery predictability.
- Actively coach assigned teams on Agile principles and practices, building durable agile maturity rather than simply running ceremonies.
- Apply automation to routine backlog hygiene, traceability updates, and status tracking to reduce manual overhead and improve consistency.
- Apply established Jira and Confluence standards for assigned teams, including board configuration, workflows, permissions, dashboards, and documentation.
- Identify and drive resolution of impediments, risks, and cross-team dependencies before they affect delivery timelines or quality.
- Oversee vendor delivery quality and adherence to agreed ways of working for vendor-staffed capacity supporting assigned teams, escalating material gaps through the appropriate BMS owner.
- Maintain lightweight ownership of requirements quality for assigned teams — user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog traceability — sufficient to keep backlog items build-ready.
Skills & Competencies
- Experience partnering directly with a hiring manager or delivery lead to stand up or significantly reshape a team's agile operating model, not only operating within an existing one.
- Experience working with program managers to establish or harmonize agile ways of working across multiple teams.
- Hands-on experience automating operational and delivery metrics reporting (velocity, capacity, throughput, predictability) using approved AI or automation tools.
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or equivalent, with a demonstrated ability to build agile maturity in a team, not just facilitate ceremonies.
- Advanced Jira proficiency and working Confluence proficiency, including workflows, dashboards, permissions, and documentation standards.
- Solid requirements and backlog-quality fundamentals — user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability — sufficient to keep delivery moving without deep domain ownership.
- Ability to translate delivery data into clear updates for domain stakeholders, technical teams, and senior leadership.
- Facilitation, coaching, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills across global, matrixed teams, including vendor-supported delivery models.
- Ability to onboard quickly, work independently, navigate ambiguity, and deliver effectively in a time-bound contingent assignment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Business Analyst, Agile Delivery Lead, or similar role, ideally with a track record of establishing agile operating models and automating delivery coordination, not only running ceremonies.
- Experience partnering with program managers or portfolio leads to align agile practices and ways of working across teams.
- Experience working with vendor-supported delivery capacity and maintaining adherence to team standards and expected outcomes.
- Experience working across US, India, and other global locations in Agile or product-based delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience applying AI or automation tools to delivery coordination, reporting, or documentation workflows is strongly preferred.
- Preferred certifications include CSM, SAFe, Jira Administration, PMP, PRINCE2, CBAP, or equivalent.
